Steampunk Assets: Lift

After watching Laputa Castle in the sky I saw the use of acrylic apparatus that was lowering stuff into a mine after seeing this I wished to duplicate this into my steam punk environment as you can see below I drew a basic side on view of this apparatus that was lowering stuff into the mines

Below are the few basic assets that I made all of these I will duplicate and put together in order to make the crane that I showed in the picture above

Below is the finished product of me combining all the shapes and objects above into the object I wished to create as you can see below there is a three-point view aside on view and rendered view

Criticism: this is one of the models I'm very happy with my belief in looks realistic looks like it could work the only downside is I still haven't looked into adding in rust and spectrum in order to make it look like it's been working for a long time and is rusted and covered in mud and soot

Steampunk Assets: Sack (Unity)

Here I added the sacks into the steam punk environment immunity as you can see from first glance I don't think anyone would think their sacks and as I said in the previous post I think I will remake these or attempt a re-texture using my box as I discussed in the previous post

Steampunk Assets: Sack

below are some research images of the sacks which I would like to be dotted around my environment which would be full of certain goods that would be in the port or industrial area the picture below is the way I would like them to be stacked and how they would look and the top image I would like this kind of texture to be on on the final sack.

below I started with the basic box which I then modelled into a sack shape trying to use as few polys as possible

here is the same model above just from another angle

below is the textured sack using the appropriate texture with a logo that I made place on top I'm not very happy with the way the sack looks I'm possibly going to add more polys in order to get greater detail but at the moment I'm going to leave this for now and come back to it later

Criticism: above is the render their image of the sack I created to be honest the floors with this sack quite obvious it's too boxy still even though soft and edges is applied I believe I need to use more bump mapping possibly putting this into my box and roaring on creases in order to make it look like a sack instead of it being a flat texture on it this needs a bit more work and I will come back to it in the future or possibly remake it

Steampunk Assets: Water Tank

As you can see above I collected some research images of water tanks especially the water tanks on top of the high-rise buildings in New York City I also looked at water tanks that would have supplied old steam engines along the tracks

From these research images I compiled an image of what I'd like my steam punk water tank to look like this would obviously be a mixture of wood I then and brass in order to give the iconic steam punk look below I started with the bottom and top which will be the same as this will be a drama like shape with curved bottom and top this is what you can see below

After I finished the top and bottom which are the same thing I added in some basic shapes in order to make the supports that'll hold the water tank off the ground

After finishing the supports I added in a simple cylinder and textured it with a dirty wood texture with mould on it this is because I wanted to give the feel of the waters gradually leaked through the word and the wood has become saturated as you can see below this is the finished product

Criticism: looking at the water tank it doesn't look very dirty or damaged with the look I am going for all so I think I have not added enough ports in order for pipes to enter and adding more detail also I'm still debating on whether changing the brass colour for most of the metal as brass would not be used to hold up a body of water this large I'm debating whether having the bottom and Ryan colour and the brass at the top because brass would not really be a support that body of water

Steampunk Assets: Barrals & Crate (Unity)

Below are some screenshots of the barrels and crates that are in my unity environment as it is this is merely just to show that the barrels and crates are now in the environment in unity

As you can see from the barrels suspect charities working well with the light there is no spectator on the barrels as there is no metal I know from the picture you can see the ground floor does not look very realistic this is just so I can run around the environment but in the future the pavement will become properly normal mapped and sized and in the first picture you can see the two planes overlapping which is causing slight flickering but this will be sorted in later instalments of my unity project
